Conflict of Interest Policy

All Motion Sports Association is committed to making decisions fairly and in the best interests of the organization and its participants.

A conflict of interest may exist when a director, coach, administrator, volunteer, or other decision-maker has a personal, family, professional, or financial interest that could improperly influence, or reasonably appear to influence, an organizational decision.

Disclosure

Individuals must disclose an actual, potential, or perceived conflict of interest when they become aware of it.

Examples may include:

• Decisions directly affecting a family member
• Personal financial interests
• Business relationships
• Selection or disciplinary decisions involving close personal relationships
• Situations where personal interests could interfere with impartial decision-making

Managing a Conflict

Depending on the circumstances, the individual may be required to:

• Disclose the conflict
• Refrain from participating in discussion
• Refrain from voting or making the decision
• Allow another appropriate and impartial person to handle the matter

The existence of a relationship does not automatically mean misconduct has occurred. The purpose of this policy is to ensure transparency and fair decision-making.

Complaints involving an individual with a conflict of interest should be handled by another appropriate person whenever reasonably possible.
